THE PETROL RATION
COUPON SYSTEM ESTABLISHED EACH ENTITLES TO TWO GALLONS [Pee United Press Association-, WELLINGTON, September 11. The Oil Fuel Controller stated today that a simple coupon system had been worked out for the proposed ration of 10 gallons of petrol a’ month to private cars. Registered owners of private cars desiring to obtain petrol should first obtain supplies, of coupons from the Post Office where they obtained their current year’s numberplates. They will be required to give the current registration numbers of their cars and to sign an official record card, in the Post Office. The coupons will be issued in sets numbered from 1 to 48, and :an announcement will be' made prior to . the beginning ,of each month giving the coupon number* for which petrol will be supplied during that month. Each coupon will entitle the holder to purchase f.. 0 gallons of petrol from any station during the month for which it applies. Fm* the current month of September coupons one to three will not be accepted after the end of September. Motor cyclists may receive special coupons in the same, way as car owners but in their case each coupon will entitle them to purchase only one gallon. Coupons numbered one to three will also be accepted from motor cyclists during September.
