ATTEMPT TO THROW AWAY MAORI WOMAN CHARGED WITH THEFT [Pee United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, September 11. A Maori woman, Materia Brown (44). charged on remand with stealing £137 10s from an elderly. Chinese, Lee Jung, pleaded not guilty m the Police Court, sind. was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. The theft was alleged to have taken place in Myers Park. Detective Blackburn said that when 1m was interviewing the accused woman at her house on the day of the alleged offence she ran downstairs, and he overtook her just in time to prevent her throwing a. roll of notes down the lavatory. He recovered the roll, which contained notes valued at £l3l. Later, the accused said she had been given the money to mind.
