COMMUNIST PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE ACTION AGAINST MAYOR AND POLICE CHIEF. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright TERRE HAUTE (Indiana), Oct. 7. (Received October 9, at 1.30 a.m.) Mr Earl Browder to-day sued the mayor and chief of police of Terre Haute for 50,000d01, alleging loss of time, false arrest, and malicious prosecution.
[A message from Terre Haute, Indiana, stated that Mr Browder, the Communist candidate for the Presidency, was arrested and charged with vagrancy. His lour colleagues, including Waldo Frank, the novelist, were also arrested. The mayor (Mr Beecher), who is a Republican, stated that ho would not allow Communism to be established in Terre Haute. Mr Browder was later released.]
