LAWN TENNIS UNION
PREPARATIONS FOR NEW SEASON The monthly meeting of tho Management Committee of the union was held this week, there being present Messrs Gibson, Sims, Facer, Laidlaw, Warren, Lindsay, Mason, Gourley, Lamb, Hope. An application for affiliation from the East Taieri Club was accepted. Thirty-seven tennis were entered for this season’s competitions, and were graded as follow;—A grade: Aotea, Kaikorai, Ravensbourne, Kiwi, St. Leonards, Kensington, Forbury, St. Kilda Methodist. B grade; Aotea, Concord, Dundas, Fire Brigade, Kensington, Wakari, Ravensbourne, Kaikorai, Trinity, East Taieri. C grade: Anderson’s Bay, Aotea, Forbury, Trinity, St. Leonards, Kensington, Green Island, North-east Valley Baptist, Musselburgh Presbyterian. D grade: Anderson’s Bay, Kensington, Aotea, Musselburgh Presbyterian, St, Leonards, Concord, Dundas, St. Kilda Methodist, Wakari, Ravensbourne. Matches will commence to-morrow. A request for the men’s doubles to be the best of 17 games was declined. The union ladders for the season wore drawn up, and will bo published at a later date. Messrs Gibson, Mason, and Hope were elected as the Emergency Committee.
