Upper Kaikorai district, was approved by the City Council, subject to Blantyre road being widened to 75 links and Balmaceiven road and ( ■;miirgton roai to 33ft from tlioir tent re lines. Th,- total length of the widening is about 58 chains, and the a'ca flint is to be dedicated is approximately 1.2 aoies, and advice has been received that the club is agreeable to dedicating the required land, subject to payment ot £25 compensation. It has wtn ascertained that; in order to meet the council’s wishes in widening these streets, a new r survey plan will require to be made, and tne £25 a eked for as compensation is orily to cover this cost. The Works Committee, therefore, recommends that the oiler of the golf club to dedicate the laud required for street widening for the sum of £25 be accepted.. An application has been received from Mr E. Fletcher Roberts for the council’s consent to a plan of proposed subdivision of allotment 32. L.T.P. 49, Township of Kirkland Hill, fronting Wairoa street and Ayr street. The proposal is to divide the property into two portions, lot 1 containing an area of 31.03 poles with dwelling thereon, and lot 2 containing 25.68 poles uiid unbuilt on, with a frontage of 13ft 4in to Wairoa street and also a frontage of one chain to Ayr street, which is not regarded as a public street. Ayr street is used by both pedestrian and vehicular traffic and will be the main access to lot 2, the _ narrow frontage to Wairoa street being considered the legal frontage to a public street for the purposes of title. This frontage is narrow, but it is impossible to increase its width on account of the position of the existing house on lot 1. The committee, therefore, recommends that the bylaw providing for a minimum frontage of 20ft to building lots be varied in this instance, and that the plan, ns submitted, be approved for the nnrposes of section 332 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933.
