AFRICAN AIR RACE

“SHOULD HAVE BEEN INTERNATIONAL " MR G. W. A. SCOTT'S SUGGESTION Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright JOHANNESBURG, October C. Mr Scott, speaking at a luncheon, expressed regret that the recent race was not for international competitors. He might have accomplished something better for Britain if the entry had been open to all nations. It was all very well to say that British aircraft had reached tho Rand in a certain time; but other countries might now say that they could have eliminated British aircraft from tho start. It would have given British aviation an even greater fdlip if a nonBritisher had won. Britain was terribly behind in commercial aviation. “If there is another race, for heaven’s sake make it international.”

Mr Schlesinger said ho intended to investigate Mr Scott’s suggestion.
