WRESTLING
SAVOLDI BEATS DAVIS [Per United Press Association.] WANGANUI, October 7. In a bout characterised by a good deal of action, punctuated with showmanship, “ Jumping ” Joe Savoldi defeated “ Wee ” Willie Davis here tonight by two falls to one. The contest went to the seventh round. Davis gained a fall in the fourth round, and Savoldi, following a series of drop kicks and flying butts, equalised in the sixth. In the seventh round Davis came out apparently groggy and lasted LSsec, Savoldi dropkicking him twice and then driving home a body press.
UNINTERESTING BOUT
[Per United Press Association.] TIMA HU, October 7. M'Cready to-night defeated Pencheff on points over eight rounds before the largest house seen in Timaru. The bout was most disappointing, there being very little solid wrestling and a preponderance of showmanship. The pair were not well matched, M'Cready carrying his opponent throughout.
