RAIN DEVELOPING The following weather forecast w*i issued at noon by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the southern districts—Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton, Orepuki, Bluff, Halfmoon Bay:—* An anti-cyclone is located over the northern portion of the Dominion, but a fresh depression is situated l over the south-west Tasman Sea and is advancing eastward. Forecast: Moderate to strong north-westerly winds, rising to gale force in exposed positions. Weather fair, but clouding over shortly and rain developing. Mild! temperatures* Seas rather rough to rough. DULL, BUT ,FINE. With only a light north-easterly, breeze in evidence this morning, tenw peratures until 12.30 p.m. had advanced considerably since yesterday, the respective maxima being 65 and 57.1! degrees, and the corresponding minimal 56 and 53 degrees. On Tuesday the registrations were 58.5 and 44 degrees over a 24-hour period. Frost and rain were absent yesterday. The afternoon was fine, with a light north-easterly; wind. This morning broke fine, bntj towards midday the sky became heavily;overcast, and the breeze showed signs of freshening. The barometer at noont registered a falling pressure of 29.85 in 4 and at this time the indications were for changeable conditions for the remainder of the day.
