Dr D. G. M'Millan, M.P., and Mr P. Neilson, M.P., left for Wellington by the early express this morning. Mr J. Scott was a passenger for Christchurch by this morning’s express. Mr James Napier left on his return to Nelson by the early express to-day. Mr C. M ‘Queen departed for Greymouth this morning. Mr E. A. Wilson travelled to Christchurch by to-day’s express. Mr H. Eric Napier left this morning for Wellington Mr E. J. Patton returned this morning from Wellington. The Revs. J. Ewen Simpson, H. R. Turner, R. L. Pursdon, F. L. Smart, Messrs ■ W. Quennell, A. W. Duncan, and Mesdames Fursdon, Duncan, Whitesides, M'Clay, and Ings left by this morning’s express to represent the Dunedin Baptist Churches at the Baptist Assembly meeting in Auckland this week. Mr J. S. Jack was a passenger for Wellington by the express last night. Sir James Allen, M.L.C., returned to Dunedin by the express on Saturday afternoon. Mr F. Waite, M.L.C., w-s a through passenger for Balclutha by the express on Saturday afternoon. Mr H. Harris returned .. Dunedin by the through express from the north on Saturday. Professor P. W. Robertson, of tlio chair of chemistry at Victoria University College, Wellington, will leave on October 13 on a visit to vir.eat Britain. He expects to return in February. Mr W. Glenn, who for ’he past live years has been chairman of the Local Advisory Committee of toe New Zealand Refrigerating Company LIJ. at Wanganui, has Joined the board of directors of that company. Mr Richard Crooks, accompanied by his manager (Mr A. J. Tait, of Melbourne) and his accompanist (Mr Frederick Schauwecker), arrived in Dunedin by car last night. A Press Association cable message from London states that Sir Arthur Richards embarked by the Strathnaver to take up the governorship of Fiji. At a meeting of a special committee of the Dunedin Bowling Centre on Sitnrday night it was decided to recomment that Mr G. A. Nelson be appointed official bowl tester, in place of Mr W. A. Scott, who, after many years’ service, has relinquished tho position. . . At the official opening of the Taien Cricket Club on Saturday afternoon the secretary, Mr W. N. Muirhead, and .bo treasurer, Mr W. M. Fogo, who were retiring from office after four years ■ service, were each presented with a pocket wallet. The president (Mr Alexander Murray), who made the presentations, referred to the good work dono by both men. Mr J. W. Scott, who has been appointed office supervisor in the housing construction branch qf_ the State Advances Corporation, joined the Public Trust Office in 1915, and, with the exception of a break on war service, remained in that office until he was transferred to the inspecting staff _of the stores audit section of the Audit Office in 1932. , „ , , Latest guests at the Grand Hotel are Mr Richard Crooks and Mr Frederick Schauwecker (New York), Mr A.
