WEATHER FORECAST
FAIR TO CLOUDY RAIN DEVELOPING The following weather forecast was issued at noon by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the southern districts—Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton, Orepnki, Bluff, Halfmoon Bay An anti-cyclone covers the northern portion of the Dominion, but a fresh westerly depression is advancing across the South Tasman Sea. Forecast: Moderate to strong north-westerly winds, rising to gale force in. places* Weather fair to cloudy, but shortly becoming unsettled and rain developing. Mild temperatures. Seas rough. CLOUDY AND DULL. With fine days prevalent over the week-end, high temperatures were recorded. The respective registrations for Saturday and yesterday were 68deg and 60.3 deg maximum, with the minimum readings at 42deg and 39.8 deg over a period of 24 hours. To-day until 12.30 p.m., the readings were 59.8 deg and 54deg. A frost of 4deg formed last evening, but there was no rainfall in the past two days. Bright sunshine was evident during Saturday, and yesterday the sun appeared at intervals. Baremetic pressure at noon to-day was steady at 29.75 in, and with a freshening north-easterly breeze the indications at 1 p.m. were for changeable condition* this afternoon.
