FALSE DECLARATIONS
SUSTENANCE FRAUDS [Per United Press Association.] WANGANUI, October 5. In the Police Court to-day Leonard Isitt Whiteside (60) admitted making three false declarations of earnings for the purpose of obtaining sustenance. In one instance he earned £5 14s lid privately and received £1 12s in sustenance. Mr Salmon. S.M., said that he had discovered that there was a good deal of abuse of sustenance. He considered that the only -proper way to deal with offenders was to make it unprofitable to make false declarations. On each charge the defendant was fined £2 and costs (10s),
