BISHOP HOISTED FORTY FEET TO A LIGHTHOUSE

After having been hoisted by ropes 40 feet from an open boat, the Bishop of Truro (Dr Hunkin) conducted a service in the lighthouse-keeper’s living room at Round Island lighthouse, in the Scilly Islands, recently. He there confirmed Principal Keeper Regan and Keeper Freethy. The Bisliop does not like heights, but ho did not hesitate to obey the orders of those in charge of the hoisting operations. Both he and his chaplain were hoisted the 40 feet to the setoff, amid cheers from the occupants of the many boats circling the rock.
