ART EXHIBITION

Dunedin lias only three 111910 days to see an outstanding collection of oil paintings and water colours by worldfamous English and Scottish artists brought over by Mr 11. Barnett, or Haymarket, Loudon, and now on display at the Pioneers’ Hall. The opportunity of seeing these really fine and important paintings should not be missed. Included in the collection are several examples that were hung on the line in the Royal Academy. All the paintings are very attractively framed, many of them in their original frames that were used by the respective artists. Recent sales are 1 A Merry Evening, by Professor Harold; ‘ Venice,’ by P Marny; ‘Going to Pasture,’ by James Roberts; ‘ Near Reading,’ by George 11. Hobson; 4 At Buckiebury, Berks, by L. W. Cuthbcrt, R.L; and ‘ Monarchs of the Highlands,’ by L. B. Hurt.

Among the many pictures that are creating attention and admiration are ‘ A Rest by the Way,’ by Val C. Prin‘■ep, R.A.j ‘At Thorpe, Dovedale.’ by 10. .1. _ Niemann; ‘On the Rothay. Amblcsidc,’ by F. W. Iliilmo; ‘ Loch Awe, North Britain,’ by Douglas Cameron; ‘ At the Cottage Door,’ by John Facd, 11. S. A.; and ‘The Primrose Girl,’ by P. F. Poole, R.A. The exhibition is open from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.
