Our Auckland correspondent telegraphs:—Only a moderate amount of business was done on ’change over the last 24 hours, and the tone of the market was quiet throughout. At this morning’s call Bank of New Zealands looked stronger, having a market between 38s 4d and 395. This was the only feature of the banking or insurance sections. An odd lot of Auckland Gas shares sold a penny higher at £1 2s lOd, while the only other local issue traded. Farmers’ Trading (A prefs.), showed a drop of 3d. Following a sale last night at the improved rate of £5 3s 6(1 Woolworth’s had buyers this morning at £5 4s. Offers for Drugs improved to £3 14s. Australian Glass sold 3d down at £4 12s 3d, and was subsequently quoted between £4 11s 9d and £4 12s 9d. Little interest was shown in the Government section.
