AERIAL RAILWAY
PLANNED FOR NATIONAL PARK [Per United Press Association.l WELLINGTON, October 3. Plans are being prepared for an aerial railway at National Park to carry skiers up and down Mount .Ruapehu. It is learned that the Government is considering the construction of such a railway to the park's tourist headquarters. At present tlio undertaking is no more than a concrete proposal, hut the principal requirements of the service have been set out. It is considered desirable that the car should he capable of carrying 10 persons, and that the upper terminus should he far enough up the mountainside to justify a claim that visitors can travel to the top of Mount Ruapehu. The type of installation likely lo he given ipost consideration is the funicular which is in u-e in many mountainous parts of Europe.
