DRIVERS FOR LOCAL BODIES
CONCILIATION PROCEEDINGS [Peb United Press Association-! WELLINGTON, October 2. Hearing of claims for a Dominion award governing the drivers employed by local bodies was commenced to-day before the Conciliation Commissioner „ (Mr Reardon). The employees are seeking a 40-hour week and' employers 44. This_ queo* tion was deferred in the meantime. On the question of wages it .was stated that the employers definitely decided that wages should be computed on an hourly basis, the men to be regarded as full-time employees and enjoy the same privileges as if on » weekly basis.
