Great things were expected by those responsible for the government of the wrestling game in the Dominion with the advent of the ex-world champion, “ Jumping ” Joe Savoldi, and it would appear that their anticipations have been exceeded. He will make his second appearance in the local ring tomorrow night, when his opponent will be “ Bleating ” Bob Kruse. He is called “Bleating” Bob because of the habit he has of complaining to the referee, and also his opponent, throughout a contest. He does this in an endeavour to distract the attention of those parties, so that he may seize upon a small advantage which as a re-

sult often presents itself. When Savoldi first appeared here he was making his first New Zealand appearance, and was therefore afforded his first opportunity of working himself into form, and also of accustoming himself to local conditions. Since then he has pursued a brilliant path through the Dominion, which culminated in a sensational drawn match against the British Empire champion at Auckland. Everything that was expected of Savoldi has been produced by him, and he has done more than that, for he has set a new mark in wrestling speed, skill, and versatility, and has won instant popularity with this public. In a match against Paul Boesch at Wellington Savoldi demonstrated that ho was the master drop-kick exponent, while his flying tackles and other attacking measures have shown conclusively why it is ho is ranked amongst the world’s best. When he takes the ring to-mor-row night against Bob Kruse, Savoldi will find himself up against stern opposition, as the Portland man has effectively ha’ndled men lik6 his opponent before. He knows the answers to the attacking methods of every typo of wrestler, and since he struck his top form in the Dominion he has displayed the wrestling ability which has made him so feared for years by the reigning title-holders. The box plans, which are at the D.1.C., will be closed promptly at 11 to-morroiv morning.
