A cheque from the members of the staff of the Imperial War Graves Commission was received at Mansion House, and brought the total of the King George the Fifth National Memorial Fund to £250,000.' The chairman of the fund executive declared that “ the success of the memorial is now assured, and it will be possible to have a splendid statue in an historic setting at Westminster and playing fields throughout the length and breadth of the land, each scheme happily commemorating two aspects of his late Majesty’s life and interests.”
