DESTROYED DY FIRE
AIR LINER AT DELHI PASSENGERS AND GREW SAFE Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright KARACHI, September 29. The east-bound air liner Athena was destroyed by fire when taking off at Delhi. The passengers and the crew are safe and the bulk of the air mails is undamaged. It carried those which were loaded for Australia from London on September 23. The Athena caught fire while the engines were starting up. A relief plane is en route to take on the mails after a few hours’ delay. PILOT-PASSENGER'S WARNING DELHI, September 29. (Received September 30, at 2 p.m.) The passengers on the Athena included Wilson, who piloted the City of Khartoum, which crashed in Alexandria Harbour early this year. He shouted a warning to the passengers when the explosion heralded the fire, enabling them to scramble out.
