The Department of Roads and Bridges in East Flanders is about to build an autostrade (motor road) from Brussels to Ostend by way of Ghent and Bruges. Each lane for traffic will be 23ft wide, and there will be a dividing strip between the two. Approaches will be provided at Ghent and Bruges. A fatal accident occurred in a barrack room at Somerset Barracks, Shorncliffe Camp, near Folkestone, recently. Trooper G. M'Gilvay, aged 28, of The Royal Dragoons, who was in the room with another trooper, was seen to have a rifle in his hand. A report was heard, and M'Gilvay was found lying dead on tlm floor with a wound in his body. irCxilviiy was a native of Glasgow.
