SAMPAN INCIDENT RECALLED Frast Association—By Telegraph—Copyright SUVA, September 28. The death has occurred of Matthew Guy, a steward of the Aorangi, who left here when the vessel ’ called en route for Auckland in connection with the visit of a sampan. It is now stated that three local vessels which went alongside when the sampan was off the reef were forcibly cut adrift, and a Japanese with a spear theatened anybody who interfered. The sampan made off at 10 knots. It is said to have 40 tons of trochus shell aboard.
