PRESERVING NATIVE TREES
MARKED APPRECIATION OF INTEREST [Pee United Pkess Association.] WELLINGTON, September 29. i It is the opinion of the Minister of Internal Affairs <the Hon. W. E. Parry) that a greater - interest than formerly is being taken by the people in the preservation of native trees and plants. If the spirited action citizens arc taking to-day had been taken a few years back, one can imagine the picture we would now have presented along ‘the highways and in certain areas around the cities, but it it not the past we should worry about, hut the said Mr Parry. The Minister quoted correspondence received by him relative to destruction and conservation, and said that it was gratifying to find parents instilling into the minds of children the need for protecting native plants and trees,.
