CORDIAL RELATIONS

RECEPTION T 9 N.S.W. PREMIER [Peb United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, September 28. New Zealand’s cordial relations with Australia was the keynote of a civic reception tendered Mr B. S. Stevens, Premier of New South Wales. Others present were Sir Archdale Parkhill, Mr J. Shand, and Sir Richard Linton (Australia). The Mayor (Mr E. Davis) said the bonds of kinship and the common purpose of mutual defence and reciprocal passenger and tourist traffic would hold the Commonwealth and the _ Dominion closely together, and that visits such as that of Mr Stevens would help to weld a further link in the chain of friendship. The Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr Sullivan), representing the Government, joined in the welcome. “ Wo greatly appreciate this act of kindness, which is in keeping with the friendship and goodwill _ which exists between the two countries,” said Mr Stevens. Ho had travelled through eight European countries, he said, and his indelible impression was the very high esteem in which Britain was held. She was carrying a tremendous responsibility with magnificent strength.
