WEATHER FORECAST
GOLD AND CHANGEABLE The following weather forecast was isiued at noon by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the southern districts—Dunedin,. Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Wintoh, Invercargill, Riverton, Orepuki, Bluff, Halfmoon Bay:—■ A depression is now located east of Cook Strait, and is moving south-east-ward, while an anti-cyclone is advancing across the Tasman Sea. Forecast; Moderate to strong southerly winds, later decreasing. Weather cold and changeable,_ with scattered showers, but gradually improving. Sharp inland frosts; seas rough. SCATTERED SHOWERS. After a fine, sunny afternoon on Saturday the evening was clear and fine, with 2.sdeg of frost. At 7.30 on Sunday morning rain fell, but ceased almost immediately. However, intermittent showers were in evidence later in the day, and last evening a heavy frost of 6deg formed. This morning marked a continuation of the showery conditions, though the sun shone brightly occasionally. A moderate south-westerly wind was apparent all morning. Yesterday the rainfall totalled .lin. Temperatures over the week-end were at a normal , spring level, the maxima on Saturday and Sunday, over a 24-hour period, being 55.5 deg and SSdeg respectively, while the corresponding minima were 40.5dep and 35.3 deg. Until 12,30 p.m. to-day. the registrations were 45deg and 40deg. Barometric pressure at noon was steady at 29.5 in, while the indications at this time were for changeable conditions this afternoon.
