DRUNK AT THE WHEEL CASES
IMPRISONMENT PENALTIES [l?bb United Press Association. - ! WELLINGTON, September 26. Found asleep in a car in Featherston street in the early hours of the morning, Humphrey James Coulter, 22 years of age, a marine engineer, was charged with being intoxicated while in charge of a motor vehicle and driving without a license. He pleaded guilty to both charges. ■' It was stated that there were five bottles of beer and an empty pint bottle of whisky in the back of the car. The defendant had been previously fined £8 apd had had his license cancelled for six months for being intoxicated in charge of a vehicle. On the charge of intoxication he was sentenced one month’s imprisonment, and for driving without a license he was fined £lO, in default one month’s imprisonment. NEW PLYMOUTH, September 26. Pleading guilty to a charge of intoxication while in charge of a motor truck in Brougham street yesterday afternoon, Ronald Brooklyn Gray, of Okato, a farmer, was this morning sentenced by the magistrate to one month’s imprisonment and prohibited from obtaining a driving license for 10 years.
