ORGANISATION OF RACING INVESTORS.

TO THE EDITOE. Sir, —I have much pleasure in suggesting to those of your readers who are investors on horse racing that the time is long overdue for organising a national association to represent them, and lend impetus to the much-needed reforms which we all hope to obtain in the near future —viz., (1) Reduction of taxation; (2) licensing of bookmakers, both on courses and away from them; (3) publication of dividends by Press and radio; (4) doubles totalisator on all leading courses; (5) telegraphing and posting of money to the totalisator, or, alternatively, the establishment of agencies by the Government for receiving money for the totalisator in all towns. This could be made a special now branch of the Post and Telegraph Department, and would be very popular. 1 believe that the greatest caic is needed at the present juncture to ensure that the interests of the punters are placed first, where they rightly belong, not subordinated to those of wealthy owners and exorbitant taxes. Trusting that strong, widespread, and effective action will soon bo taken on behalf of the punters.—l am, etc., W. S. Duxkertox. Dunedin. September 26. [The racing and trotting conferences have made representations to the Government on most of these points.— E.d E.S.]
