ROYAL MALE CHOIR
—« MONDAY NIGHT'S CONCERT The second concert of the fifty-first season of the Royal Dunedin Male Choir will be given in the Town Hall on Monday evening, when a programme consisting of about a dozen part songs will be presented- These will include several numbers with spies to humming accompaniments, notably ‘ Loch Lomond ’ (arr. R. Vaughan Williams), the solo of which will be taken by Mr John Pringle, baritone. In the number ‘ Deep River ’ (arr. Mansfield) the soloist will be Mr John Kennedy, and ‘ Sooner in the Morning ’ will offer Mr A, G. Fleming, L.R.S.M., a brass solo. Other choir numbers will be ‘ Roman War Song ’ (Wagner), ‘All Through the Night’ (arr. Ken. Finlay), ‘Ho Ro My Nutbrown Maiden’ (another of Finlay’s), ‘Fallen Heroes’ (Cyril Jenkens), a striking arrangement of ‘The Son of God ’ for choir and organ accompaniment, ‘ Here’s a Health to the King ’ (Ivor Davies). ‘ Swing Low, Sweet Chariot ’ (arr. Reddick), and ‘ Roll the Old Chariot Along ’ (Stuart Young), the latter being a rollicking close chorus. Miss Mary Pratt will sing ‘ How Changed the Vision ’ (Handel) and a bracket of three items— ‘ I Love Thee’ (Grieg), ‘None But an Aching Heart’ (Tschaikovsky), and ‘Beloved’ (Michael Head). The contributions of Miss Eva Judd, violinist, are by Claude Debussy, and a bracket, ‘ The Little Windmills ’ (Couperin) and ‘ Midnight Bells ’ (HenbergerKreisler). The choir soloists will be Mr John Kennedy, who will present an item from ‘ Faust,’ and Mr John Pringle, who will render an item by Allsiten. The box plans are at Begg’s.
