SUNDAY SERVICES
At First Church the Rev. W. Alien Stevely’s morning subject will ,be ‘The Faith of Christ,’ and the evening subject ‘ The Temple of God.’ At the evening service there will be a parade of past and present Royal Arch Freemasons to celebrate the seventieth anniversary of the chapter. The music will include the quartet ‘ O Come, Everyone that Thirsteth ’ and the anthem 1 How Lovely are the Messengers ’ (Mendelssohn). Dr Galway will be at the organ. . Communion services will be held morning and evening at Knox Church. Rev. ]>. C. Herron, M.A., will conduct both services. His evening subject will be ' Jesus.’ . , ~ In St. Stephen’s Presbyterian Church the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper will be observed at the morning service, and a supplementary communion at the close of the service in the evening. The subject at the morning service will be ‘ Christ Between,’ and in the evening the subject will bo ‘ A Miracle Within a Miracle.’; Divine worship at Moray Place Congregational Church will be conducted by the Rev. Professor S. F._ Hunter, D.D., who will take as his subject ‘Man’s Insignificance to Greatness.’ The evening subject will be ‘ A Guarding Against Idols,’ and the choir anthem will be ‘ Evening and Morning ’ (Oakeley). The Rev. C. G. Hedley Bycroft will conduct the service at the United Congregational Church, Albany street, to-morrow. ‘ Christ’s Legacy ’ will be his topic at the morning service, and in the evening the subject will be ‘ Are God’s People Needed in the World To-day? The soloist will bo Miss Phyllis West. . . The Trinity Methodist Lawn Tennis Club will attend ■ church parade at Trinity Church in the evening. The Rev. C. H. Olds will preach on ‘ Playing the Game, and the anthem will be ‘ Sweet is the Sunlight.’ Mr Alan Highet will sing ‘’When I Survey the Wondrous Cross,’ and. a. basa solo will be.rendered by Mr Clynton Williams, of Auckland. Services at the Methodist Central Mission • will to conducted in tlie morning ty the Rev. Leslie B. Neale, and in the evening by the Rev. Arthur H. Semen, general superintendent of the ovetseas missions. The soloist at this service will be Misa Edith Ritchie. , ■ • ~ ~ ... . Both services at the St. Kilda Methodist Church will be conducted by the Rev. T. Skuse. ; _ ■ . The morning service at the Hanover Street Baptist Church will be broadcast from 4TA. The Rev. J. Ewen Simpson will take a study of Isaiah, chapter xxv. A quartet will sing ‘Hark, There Comes a Whisper, and the choir will render the anthem « Hark, Hark, My Soul.’ In the evening the subject will be ‘ The Friend of Publicans and Sinners.’ Miss Holdgate, of Timaru, will sing ‘Green Pastures,’ and the choir will present the solo-anthem ‘ The God of Abraham Praise,’ Mr G. Bridget being the soloist. . The speakers at the South Dunedin Church of Christ jubilee services will be the Rev. H. R. Turner, Principal A. L. Haddon, M.A., and E. P. Aderman, B.A. The evening subject is ‘ Fifty Years of Evangelism.’ Special songs have been prepared for the afternoon and evening services by the Bible School. Mr J. T. Leech’s Choir will render the anthem ‘ He, Watching Over Israel ’ (‘ Elijah ’). The Rev. T. R. Woolloxall will conduct the services at the Dundas Street Methodist Church, his subjects being ‘The Unrealised Ambition * and Residual Religion. During the evening service Miss B._ Judd will render a violin solo, and the choir an anthem. The services at the Salvation Army, Dowling street, will be conducted by Adjutant Mehaffie. Mr J. Sands, a young man with a four-square Gospel message, will be the speaker at the happy hour gathering ati J p.m. All are welcome to the Army’s bright, happy services. At the Theosophical Society there will be a public address by Mr Tano Fama, who will speak on ‘ The Artistic Maori.’ At the Greater World Christian Spiritual Mission the services will be conducted by the Rev. Gertrude Brooks. The subject will be ‘Responsibility: Whose is it?’ Spiritual clairvoyance will follow. The Rev. R. L. Fursdon will conduct both services at the Caversham Baptist Church. There will be a Girls’ Life Brigade parade at 11 a.m. The morning subject is ‘Thai Feast of Tabernacle,’ and at night ‘ Christians in Business.’ The choir will render the anthem ‘ O Love the Lord.’ Mr Reuben Alexander Webb will conclude his mission at the Spiritualist Church, hi* subject being ‘ A Kindlier and Happier World for All,’ with special reference to animal welfare. Mrs Webb will give spiritual clairvoyance, and a baritone sola will be rendered by a well-known singer. A complimentary social will be tendered Mr Webb on Monday at _8 o’clock in place of the usual healing service.
