LADIES' GOLF

OTAGO CLUB’S CHAMPIONSHIPS By winning the last hole with the deciding putt, Mrs H. A. Gamble won the senior championship of the Otago Ladies’ Golf Club at Bahnacewen this morning, defeating the veteran player, Mrs W. D. M‘Carthy, 1 up. The junior championship was won by Mrs E. G. Williams, who defeated Miss M. Hun-ter-Weston, 4 and 3. The senior match, which produced rather patchy golf, was followed by a large gallery. Mrs Gamble was 3 up at the eleventh, but her opponent made a splendid recovery, the issue being in doubt until the eighteenth green. Both players were very steady on the fairways, without being brilliant, but on the greens each made several costly mistakes. The winner has been the most consistent of all the A grade players, throughout the year. The junior game was of a surprisingly high order, the players reaching better form than the senior contestants, especially on the greens.
