SCOTTISH WAR MEMORIAL

Sir Archibald Lyle, by a gift of £2,500 in memory of his father, has enabled the Scottish national war memorial scheme at Edinburgh to be declared free of defat. It is also announced by the ‘ Weekly Scotsman ’ that a wonderful collection of ancient Scottish weapons, known as the Colville Collection, and which was about to be sold overseas, has been secured, for the museum on a guaranteed loan,the interest of which has to be met from the funds. “ Apart from this guaranteed loan, the whole scheme now stands free of debtj the last £2,500 being a gift from Sir Archibald Lyle,of Glendelvine, in memory of his father.”
