BRITISH REARMAMENT
IMPORTANT POLICY STATEMENT EXPECTED FROM SIR SAMUEL HOARE NEXT WEEK (British Official Wireless.l Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright RUGBY, September 24. (Received September 25, at noon.) Sir Samuel Hoare will make an important statement on the British rearmament policy at the annual conference of the Conservative Party at Margate next week. The newspapers anticipate that he will announce that the Government is determined to carry through its rearmament programme until the defences of the Empire are fully secured 1 . The ‘ Morning Post ’ says the speech is likely to assume particular importance in view of the suggestions and proposals for the stabilisation of armaments likely to be made shortly by some Continental Powers whose defences are already approaching maximum strength.
