THE BASIC WAGE

COURT TO NEAR CASE OCTORER 19 [Pub United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, September 24. The Arbitration Court will sit here on October 19 and subsequent days to determine the basic rates of wages. Inquiries made to-day indicated that the representation of the respective parties had not yet been completed. It was learned, however, that among those who would be taking a prominent part in the proceedings would be Mr T. 0. Bishop, secretary of the New Zealand Employers’ Federation, and Mr J. Robinson, of Dunedin, secretary of the Otago Trades and Labour Council. Mr J. Roberts, secretary of the New Zealand Waterside Workers’ Federation, is also likely to appear on behalf of the workers in several organisations.
