Although the selection was poor tbo demand from the home trade was active for best kinds, but inferior sorts were heavily withdrawn. New Zealand lots sold as follow: Slipe half-bred lambs, “ Fairfield,” top price, 18d, average 17d; greasv cross-bred, ‘‘T in Diamond,” 14d and 12Jd. ADELAIDE WOOL SALES. Press Association; —By Telegraph—Copyright ADELAIDE, September 25. (Received September 25, at 11 a.m.) Satisfactory prices were realised at the wool sales, the demand exceeding expectations. Bradford was the leading buyer. Germany gave good support, but Japan did not operate. There was strong competition for second grade and shabby wools, which brokers had expected to be difficult to sell. The estimated price for greasy wool was 11.25 d per ib. MOUNT LYELL SHARES. Our Auckland correspondent telegraphs After a busy period yesterday afternoon, the exchange again slowed down this morning, with a small turnover. There were inquiries in the banking and insurance sections, but buyers limits were kept down, and no business resulted. Bank of New Zealands were again quiet, with a market between 38s and 39s 3d. Gas shares were easier, with sellers at 23s Id and buyers still at 22s lOd. In Australian issues the special feature was the neglect o.f Electrolytic Zincs. There were sellers of ordinaries at 44s 3d, but no buyers for either ordinaries or preferences. Sellers of Broken Hills raised their limits to 76s 3d, but buyers remained at 75s 3d. Martha Mines were firm on the dividend announcement, with buyers at 18s 3d, and no sellers. Government Stocks were in demand for all issues, but the only sellers were 1940’s at £lO2. Wool-, worths (Sydney) _ were steady between £5 6s and £5 7s.
