TAIERI AERODROME
STATUTORY SAFETY PROVISIONS T. o Finance Committee of the City Council reports that formal notice has been received from the Minister of Public Works requesting the council to exercise the powers vested in it by the Public Works Amendment Act to take tho necessary steps under sections 4 and 5 of the Act with a view to ensuring the safety of the Taiefi aerodrome. The sections of the Act referred to limit the height to which trees may be grown, and also of buildings or other structures on land in the vicinitv of tho aerodrome. As action by the local authority is mandatory, the town clerk has accordingly been instructed to give effect to tho terms of the Minister’s request. That would involve publication of a notice in tho ‘ Gazette ’ and in a local newspaper of the terms of the requisition and the service on the owners of the land concerned of a copy of the no) ice.
