SOLOMON DEEP LEAD
DISPUTE SETTLED INDREASED WAGE INSTEAD OF SATURDAY EXEMPTION [Per United Press Association.! INVERCARGILL, September 23. After protracted discussion at a conference at Gore today -between the directors and representatives of the emplovees of the King Solomon Deep Lead 'mine, a settlement was reached in the dispute which arose through the demand of the men for a 40-hour week and their refusal to accept Saturday work. The mine, which has been idle since Monday, will resume operations at the morning shift to-morrow. It is understood that the company refused to agree to a 40-hour week, and countered the demand for this concession with an offer of increased wages for bounty workers and increased rates for contract workers, which offer was accepted by the miners’ representatives. _
