TAXI BUSINESS INQUIRY
STATISTICAL AND FINANCIAL ASPECTS ACCOUNTANT ADDED TO COMMITTEE [Pfr United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, September 22. The statistical and financial aspects of the inquiry being undertaken by the committee appointed to investigate the taxi cab and town carrier business have led the chairman of the committee (Mr Butler) to confer with the Minister of Transport (Mr R. Semple) and raise the question of the desirability of baying appointed to the committee a qualified accountant. “ I quite agree that the importance of financial and statistical data in connection with the inquiry cannot be stressed too much,” said Mr Semple, ” and, as these matters are becoming more prominent as the inquiry progresses. I have decided to make this additional appointment.” The Minister announced that he had appointed Mr If. R. Smith. 8.C0m., A.R.-A.N.Z.. chief clerk of the Transport Department, as a member of the committee.
