' —Coastal. — Wingatui, which arrived here on Saturday, completed working cargo yesterday, and sailed in the afternoon for Wellington and Auckland via Oamaru, Timaru, and Lyttelton. Holmdale, which arrived yesterday morning, sailed again last night for Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui via Oamaru, Timaru, and Lyttelton. Kaimai arrived this morning from Westport via Lyttelton, Timaru, and Oamaru. She is to load out to-morrow for Wellington, Nelson, New Plymouth, and Westport via Oamaru, Timaru, and Lyttelton. Waimarino is now to leave Auckland on Friday for Lyttelton and Dunedin. She is due on Wednesday, and , will sail the same day for Bluff. Gale was docked at Port Chalmers yesterday morning for overhaul, and is now scheduled to load at Dunedin on Saturday for Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui via Timaru and Lyttelton. Breeze has been fixed to. load here on Thursday for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Wanganui. Waiuui is to leave Wellington on Friday for Bluff and Dunedin, and is due here on Napier and Gisborne via ports, Holmglen is now scheduled to load at Dunedin on Saturday for Wellington; New Plymouth, and Port Waikato via ports. Holmdale is due back again on Monday to load out for Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui via Oamaru, Timaru, and Lyttelton. —Overseas — Ashburton is now expected here on Thursday to complete discharge of her New York cargo. She is to sail the following day for Australia. Chifuiku Marti, from Japan via northern ports, is now expected here on Friday to continue discharge and loading. She is to sail the same day for Japan via Australia. Karetu, from Newcastle and Sydney via Bluff, is due to-morrow morning andl is to sail on Thursday for Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton, and Miramar. Narbada, from Calcutta via northern ports, is due on Thursday to continue discharge of her cargo from the East. She is to dock on Saturday, and is scheduled to leave there on Monday for Bluff to complete discharge. From Bluff she will proceed to Australia cn route to Calcutta. Omana has been fixed to load at Adelaide and Edithburg about the middle of October for Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton, and Wellington. She is due about the end of the mofith. John Knudsen, discharging oil from Palembang for the Vacuum Oil Company, is expected at Dunedin to-mor-10Hauraki left New York on August 22 and is due at Auckland on Thursday, and will complete discharge at Wellington, Lyttelton, and Port Chalmers. She is due here on October 3. Port Hobart is expected to sail tomorrow for Timaru, Auckland, Gisborne, Napier, and Wellington to continue loading. TRANSPACIFIC MAIL SERVICES. —Northbound.— Niagara left Sydney on September 10 for Auckland and Vancouver via Suva and Honolulu. She arrived at Auckland on September 14, and is due at Vancouver on October 2. Monterey left Sydney on September 16 for Auckland and Los Angeles via Suva Pago Pago, and Honolulu. She anived at Auckland on September 20, and is due at Los Angeles on October 3. Mattnganui is to leave Sydney on Thursday for Wellington and San Francisco via Rarotonga and Papeete. She is due at Wellington on September 03 and at Sau Francisco on October 16. '

The interisland express steamer Rangatira arrived at Lyttelton from Wellington at 6.35 this morning. Passengers and mail for the south connected with the express. MESS TABLE GOSSIP. Captain R. L. Davies, of the Ngakuta, was recently invalided ashore at Sydney. His command was temporarily taken by Captain A. T. Adam who was recalled from holidays. Mr P. W. Young, late chief officer of the Monowai, has been appointed to a similar position on the Canadian Australasian liner, Niagara, relieving Mr T. W. White, who is awaiting further orders at Sydney. ' Captain H. B. Thurston, who was previously in the Mairaoa, is now commander of the Shaw, Savill steamer lonic. THE NAPIER STAR. The Blue Star Line steamer Napier Star left Liverpool in ballast on August 23, and is due at Gisborne on September 27. She will load at Gisborne, Napier, Timaru, Wellington, New Plymouth, and Auckland, sailing from Auckland on October 17 for London via Cape Horn. She is due at London about November 25. TANKER KALMAI AT AUCKLAND. The tanker Kalmai, with bulk motor spirit from Singapore for the Shell Oil Company, arrived at Auckland on Sunday. Auckland is to be the sole port of discharge. SUEZ CANAL TRAFFIC. During the 10 clays ended July 20, 147 vessels passed through the Suez Canal, as compared with 156 during the corresponding period of 1935. Dues received from July 11 to July 20 amounted to 20,740.00 f, as compared with 23,240,000 f in the corresponding period of last year. From July 1 to July 20 a.total of 306 vessels passed through, paying dues of 44,390,000 f, ns compared with 314 vessels and dues of 46,420,000 fin the corresponding period of last year. So far this rear up to July 20, 3,258 vessels have passed through, paying dues of 475,070,000 f as compared with 3,140 vessels and dues of 480,570,000 f in tho corresponding period of 1935.
