LADIES’ CRICKET

GRANGE’S ANNUAL REPORT The annual report. of the Grange Ladies’ Cricket Club states:—ln presenting the fourth annual report and balance sheet the committee wishes to congratulate members bn the advancement made during the past season. The majority of the members showed great improvement, and if they will give the coaches their support and co-operation the club is assured of a bright future. The club has an active playing membership of 25, and the committee would take this opportunity of reminding members to endeavour to secure more players during the coming season. Whilst championship', honours were not annexed in either grade, it is gratifying to- know that both teams finished up and third respectively in their grade, and the committee would, congratulate .all players ou their fine effort in combining with. Captains Knowles and Beel and securing such good results. To M. Bishop we offer our heartiest congratulations for her all-round display, while M. Hollis, A. Gaffaney, and E. Riach were worthy supporters. The eleven are to be complimented on their good display, and L. Beel, V. Mant,_ S< South, and L. Blanket are champion! in the making. • . .. Practice.— Though disappointing in regard to the weather experienced dun ing the season, great interest was maim tained throughout the season. Representative Honours.—The clu« was again represented, and our congratulations are due to M. Bishop and N Hollis against Canterbury, and S. South and L. Plunket against Southland. M. Bishop had the honour of being elected captain of the Otago team and winning the Mary Machin Shield for the first time, defeating Canterbury by four wickets and . 4 runs. Trophies.—The following member! have been awarded the various trophies:—A grade: Batting, M. Bishop; bowling. M. Bishop. B grade: Batting, V. Mant; bowling. L. Plunket. The Knowles Cup is awardee to M. Bishpp.
