OBITUARY
MRS HELY The death of Mrs Hely, widow of the late Captain Hely, took place unexpectedly early yesterday morning, on the day which was to have seen her departure .for her new home in Nelson. Mrs Hely will be remembered by a very large circle of friends, drawn to her by her kindliness and unselfishness. Many of these were her old pupils, when she presided over a ladies’ seminary which she opened in the ’7o’s on her arrival in Dunedin. Practically the whole of her long married life was spent here, and she and Captain Hely celebrated their golden wedding two years ago. For some years she nas been living quietly in Musselburgh, and had attained the good old age of 92 years. MR JAMES HAIM [Per United Press Association.] INVERCARGILL, September 21. The death occurred to-day of Mb’ James Hain, for many years head master in Park and South Schools, Invercargill, aged 73. He was born at Ballarat, and arrived here in 1880. He was a prominent bowler, with an Australian and New Zealand reputation. He is survived by the widow and a daughter, Mrs Walter J._ Jones. His son, Stanley, was killed in action on the Somme.
