HOMING PIGEON CLUB

RACE FROM ASHBURTOH The Dunedin Homing Pigeon Club flew the second 156-mile race of the old bird season from Ashburton on Saturday. One hundred and twenty birds from 16 lofts were liberated at 9.30 a.m., in fine and calm weather. Conditions were ideal for the birds, and they raced home at a speed of 50 miles an hour. The first five places were filled as follows: — C. Paxton's Flying Grade, 1,436.7, 1; A. Goodman’s Bonnie Jean, 1.414.2, 2; A. Esquilant’s Ruxtel, 1.412.2, 3; J. Sconllar’s Ouickfire, 1.407.2, 4 ; H.
