MISS EILEEN JOYCE
PUBLIC CONCERT TO-NIGHT t To-night, in the Town Hall, 'the world-famous young pianist, Miss Eileen Joyce, will make her first public appearance in Dunedin. The National Broadcasting Service is to be congratulated on giving the public the opportunity of bearing such a brilliant artist at popular prices, which will be 3s and 2s for reserves, without tax or booking fee. Five hundred seats will be obtainable at Is. Miss Joyce has already peared in Wellington and Christchurch, and in both these cities packed, houses have greeted her and given her a wonderful ovation. The symphonic ;variations by Cesar - Franck will be - Miss Joyce’s "big solo, and she will be,’assisted by the 4YA Symphony Orchestra of 40 players conducted by Mr Gil JDoch. Her other numbers will be 1 Arabesque ’ (Schumann) and ‘ Ballade in G Minor ’ (Chopin). Mr Wilfred Kershaw (bass) will also assist, and Mrs Clarice Drake will act as accompanist. A special souvenir programme has been -printed',Land will be sold for 6d. Special concessions have been made for students and pupils booking in groups of five or more. The box plans are at Begg’s. The whole of the proceeds are for the Mayor’s Relief of Distress Fund. Patrons arc-noti-fied that the doors will be closed) between each item.
