PESSIMISM MAY PAY
There are critics of modern driving who insist tha.t a largo proportion ot mishaps in traffic are due to the public’s excess of optimism. The estimate may have some validity, especially in the case of new cars. So obviously superior arc they in respect to performance—easy stopping, easy steering, and lightning acceleration—that the average owner asks them to do too much. A little more pessimism might keep him from driving his car into situations from which it cannot extricate itself.
