CHINESE LABOURERS
STRIKES AT SINGAPORE POLICE CHARGE DEMONSTRATION Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright SINGAPORE, September 18. (Received September 19, at 10 a.m.) Minor strikes among the Chinese building workers and pineapple factory workers during the week resulted yesterday in a demonstration in the centre of the city. The police charged with batons, and the fire brigade turned the hose on them. Over 2,000 labourers at the R.A.F. base have joined the strikers, who are more pay, less work, and the formation of.a union.
