COMMUNISM v. LABOUR.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir—“ Watchful ” may as well save himself the trouble he is taking to ivateh the Communists. As the Hon Mr Fraser’s address to unionists shows, the Government is helpless in the hands of. the well-organised, ■ devoted band of Communists ill New Zealand. The Communista are far too clever to let their tool, the Labour Government, slip out of their hands. They, hold the Government in the' hollow of their hand. Do yod not know that the Communist International programme lays down the policy for Communists to devote special attention to the colonies? Their aim is to destroy the British Empire, which they recognise as the bulwark of the world against revolution and chaos. Cannot “Watchful” understand, or does he not know, that the Communists aim at holding key positions in society, in trades unions, in the Army, etc.? It is by Communists holding key positions in Russia that Russia has been ruled. Cole lays it down that the only hope Communism has of getting its revolution in parliamentary countries is for some government actually to try to bring about Socialism by parliamentary means, and fail. The game of the Communists is to urge this Government on, so that when the inevitable muddle begins they will precipitate it, and in the crisis seize dictatorial power.—l am. etc., Anti-Communist League.
