FRUIT AND PRODUCE. MARKET REPORT. Good business has been experienced on the local fruit and produce market during the week. First-grade dessert and cooking apples are in demand, and values have firmed. Increased consignments of dessert pears have come to hand ex coo 1! stores and are realising fair values. Heavy supplies of spring flowers, such as narcissi, ranunculas, a’nemones, and boronia, are arriving and netting fair values. Fresh vegetables are in demand. Cauliflowers are still short of requirements, and values have firmed. Supplies of lettuce and rhubarb are much more plentiful. Onions are still most difficult to sell, but carrots and parsnips have firmed in price with a good inquiry. Seed potatoes have been meeting satisfactory sales. The market is bare of oranges, a further shipment being due about the end of September. . Queensland pineapples have been in over-supply, and values have dropped. Ripe bananas are selling well. Shipments of Tongan and Samoan fruit ex the Matua came to hand' during the week. Transhipments received include Californian lemons, grapefruit, and grapes, as well as a small line of Raratongan-tomatoes. Only small consignments of whitebait are coming to hand, and values remain firm. Eggs remain at Is to Is Id a dozen. There was a heavy yarding of birds for Reilly’s Wednesday’s poultry sale, prices all round being slightly lower than last week. GUARANTEE CORPORATION DIVIDEND. The Board of Directors of the New Zealand Guarantee Corporation Ltd. has advised the Stock Exchange Association of New Zealand that at the annual meeting a final divided of 2d per share will be recommended, making 3Jd for the year.
