Ho.lmlea berthed this morning, and is expected to sail to-night for New Plymouth and Port Waikato via Timaru, Lyttelton, and Wellington. John Knudsen arrived at Auckland on Tuesday evening with a cargo of bulk petrol from Palembang for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. She is expected here on Wednesday. Karetu left Sydney early yesterday morning for Bluff, Dunedin, Timaru, Lyttelton, and Miramar. She is due here on Tuesday. Cape Horn, in charge of Captain Wilkie and under charter to the Union Steam Ship Company, reached Auckland on Monday from Pacific Coast ports with general cargo. The interisland express steamer Rangatira arrived at Lyttelton from Wellington at 6.45 this morning. Passengers and mail for the south connected with the express. KARETU’S TRANSHIPMENTS, The Karetu, which is due here on Tuesday from Sydney, brings transhipments ex the Changte, Otaio, Tarn, Nieuw Zeeland, and Kyokkoh Maru. RANGITATA HOMEWARD BOUND. The New Zealand Shipping Company has received advice that the Rangitata, which left Wellington for London on August 27, reached Panama on September 14. GOLDEN CLOUD LEAVES LOS ANGELES, Advice has been received that the O, and O. Lino steamer Golden Cloud cleared Los Angeles on September 9 for Auckland, Wellington, and Australia. She is now due at Auckland on October 5. O.S.K. SERVICE. The Osaka Shosen Kaisha Line has decided to reopen the direct service between Japan and New Zealand ports which was inaugurated some months ago, but was discontinued after one voyage. The new seryice will be commenced with the Brisbane Maru, which is scheduled to leave Moji on October 4 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin, the vessel being due at Auckland on October 23. It is proposed on subsequent voyages to reduce the steaming time to 16 days. MARAMA’S TRANSHIPMENTS, The Mararaa, which arrived at Wellington on Monday from Sydney, brought transhipments ox Narkunda, Changte, Nieuw Zeeland, Comorin, Kyokkoh Maru, Viminale, Aagterkirk, Bitterfeld, Orford, Kanimbla, Manoora, Katoomba, Caledon, Macedon, Orungal, Goulburn, Nellore, Momba, Ormiston, Mildura, Duntroon. LONDON’S SHIPPING. During the week ended on July 31 1,008 vessels, representing 1,000,403 net register tons, used the Port of London. Of these, 551 vessel (817,296 net register tons) were to and from Empire and foreign ports, and 457 vessels (183,107 net register tons) were_ engaged in coastwise traffic. The arrivals included nine meat cargoes—four from Australia, two from New Zealand, and three from South America, comprising 361.000 carcasses of lamb and mutton, 179.000 quarters of beef, quantities_ of pork, rabbits, and sundries.
