UNEMPLOYMENT RETURNS
DECREASES RECORDED [From Ooe Parliamentary Reporter.! WELLINGTON. September 16. The official unemployment statistics to August 29 show a decrease of 3,156 in the number registered as receiving relief employment or sustenance. The gross total of 50,847 shows a reduction of 9,959 compared with August of 1935. FURTHER STATISTICS [Per United Press Association.! WELLINGTON, September 16. The number of males wholly or partly dependent on the Employment Promotion Fund on August 29 were as follow: Registered, but not eligible or not placed on relief, 2,700, as against 2,804 on August 1. _ Receiving rationed relief work under scheme No. 5, 15,569, as against 15,945* Receiving sustenance without work, 25,994, as against 26,296. Receiving full-time employment, wholly or partly-paid from the Employment Promotion Fund,, 6,584, as against 8,958. Total: 50,847, as against 54,003; decrease, 3,156. - ; „ - The figures'show a decrease of 9,909, as against August 31 of last year.
