STRAND
A drama which has the fury of a typhoon is being screened at the Strand, where the Columbia production, ‘ Hell-Ship Morgan,’ has that powerful-screen personality, George Bancroft, in the title role/ Bancroft pounds his way through a red-blood story of the two men battling for the love of a beautiful woman. Victor Jory is cast as Bancroft's opponent in love, while Ann Sothern is tne charming prize. 1). Boss Ledermau directed this turbulent drama of human emotions and raging seas. Other important members ot the imposing cast include George Begas, Howard Hickman, and Balpli Byrd. Tim M‘Coy is the star of ‘Justice of the Range,’ the other film, a typical Western vehicle, in which he is supported by Billie Stewart, who has played opposite him in several recent films. Tne story centres round the efforts of a rascally commission agent to gain possession of a ranch by stirring up a range war by his rustling activities. It is full of interest and action. ‘LAUGHTER IN THE AIR.’. Many of the finest talents of stage, screen, and radio are featured with Myrt and Marge in ‘ Laughter in the Air,’ Bryan Foy-Universal production, to be commenced, at the Strand on Friday. Myrt and Marge are starred and make their first appearance on the screen in this production. Fddie Foy, jun., famous musical! comedy star of ‘ The Cat andi the Fiddle ’ and other Broadway hits, contributes his individual style of comedy. Ted Healy and his Stooges, who have added to the gaiety of ‘ Crazy Quilt ’ and ‘ A Night in Spain,’ are seen for the first time in a feature production. J. Farrell MacDonald and Tom Jackson, screen favourites, are cast in ‘ Laughter in the Air.’ Trixie Friganza, grand old lady of the stage and screen, offers a new'“little bag of tricks” in the leading comedienne role. Grace Hayes, whose soprano voice has been heard in many big Broadway hits and on phonograph records, has another big part. Hay Hedge, the “ Clarence ” of Myrt and Marge, joins bis team-mates in making a first film appearance in this Foy production. ‘ Laughter in the Air ’ is directed by A 1 Boasberg, formerly Hollywood’s outstanding comedy writer, who has now become one of its best comedy directors.
