OTAGO CRICKET LEAGUE
ANNUAL MEETING The twenty-fourth annual meeting of the Otago Cricket League was held on Monday, a large attendance being presided over by Mr P, H. Morey (president). ANNUAL REPORT. The annual report stated that the past season had been an eminently successful one. There were 29 teams entered in the league competition during the season, an increase of seven since last season. The new clubs affiliating were Defiance Red G, Ross and Glendining, Glenross, Otago Brush, Bing, Harris, Technical Old Boys’ Club, and Self Help. The A section was won by the Railway Club, the B section bv Speight’s Club, and the C section by the Ross and Gleudining Club. Trophies won were presented at a function by Messrs D. C. Cameron, P. H. Morey, W. D. Richards, S. Ringrose, A. Melville, and W. Strang. Moving the adoption of the arm al report and balance sheet, the Chairman spoke of the fine financial position the league was in. Assets to the value of £65, with no liabilities, was the excellent position in which the league finished the past season. The report and balance sheet were adopted. OFFICE-BEARERS. The election of office-bearers for the ensuing year resulted Patrons —the Mayor of Dunedin (Rev. E. T. Cox), the Mayor of St. Kilda (Mr D. C. Cameron), and the local members of Parliament; president, Mr \V. J. Duncan; vice-presidents—Mrs Blaney, Messrs S. Ringrose, W- H. M‘Lean, G. Nelson, R. Hudson, J. K. Macfie, C. H. Russell, W. H. M'Kenzie, A. Burrell, A. Melville, W. B. Taverner. W. Strang, H. H. Gaston, A. Ferguson, M. C. Henderson, W. D. Richards, and P. H. Morey• secretary, Mr E. Hellyer; treasurer, Mr J. H. W. Gould ; executive, one member from each club represented was elected to form the executive. GENERAL. It was decided to apply for the use of 13 wickets on the Oval as laid down in the plan submitted to the reserves department last season. It was resolved to apply for affiliation to the Sports Protection Society, and Mr Ringrose was appointed a delegate to attend meetings on behalf of the League Executive. The secretary was instructed to send a letter of congratulation to the Otago Rugby Football Union on its representative team having so far retained the Ranfurly Shield. In speaking of accidents on the Oval during the playing of games, Mr Morey stated that if the Hague desired he would undertake to ensure that two St. John Ambulance Association men wore in attendance on Saturdays. It was resolved to write a letter of appreciation to the loco, division of the Ambulance Corps thanking it for the assistance rend' cd to injured players in past seasons. Opening day was fixed for October 3.
