GRANGE CRICKET CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Grange Cricket Club was held last evening in the North Ground pavilion, the president, Mr T. H. Elmes, being in the chair. There was a largo attendance of members. At the commencement of the meeting the gathering stood in silence as a mark of respect to the memory of two of their number, Bishop Richards and Mr W. Best, who had passed away during the year. ANNUAL REPORT, In moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet, the Chairman stated that the Finance Committee was to be congratulated upon the manner in which it had fostered the financial interests of the club, and also the trophy winners upon their success. He hoped that the club would maintain the excellent standard of play attained last season and that true sportsmanship would bo shown at all times. The report and balance sheet were adopted. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The election of office-bearers for the season resulted as follows: —Patron, Mi R. M‘Lean; president, Mr 1. H. Elmes; vice-presidents—Messrs A. C. Hanlon, A. Restieaux, G. A. Nelson, R G Hudson, J. Walker, J. Young, M. Higgins. S. Larkins, W. Henderson, W. M. Beal, W. H, Naylor, J. Brown, 0. G. Stevens, E. A. Hamel, H. Bennett, J. Breen, G. Overton, W. Esqmlant, J. Dey, sen., G. Abercrombie. C. Paisley, S. T. Lemhi, and S. Dunkloy; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr W. A. Rowland; assistant treasurer, Mr 0. Dey; club captain, Mr C. S. Chadwick; deputy club captain, Mr G. Burgess; General Committee—Messrs W. Mercer, A. Galland, P. Lindsay, C. Bird, and J. Dey; Selection Committee—Messrs A. Galland, C. S. Chadwick, A. Mercer; delegate to Otago Boys’ Association, Mr 1. Bennett; delegate to the Otago Piotection Association, Mr A. Restieaux; hon. auditor, Mr G. A. Nelson, GENERAL. It was decided that October 8 should be fixed as the club opening day. An opportunity was taken during tne evening to present the trophies won last season. A donation of £6 10s from the patron (Mr R. M‘Lean) was acknowledged. It was decided to instruct the club delegates to the Otago Cricket Association to query the action of the association in advancing £2oo‘-of the salary of the coach before he had even commenced to earn it. • ■ . A decision was made to incorporate in the minutes an appreciation of the assiduous services of Mr W. A. Rowland, the club secretary, during the past season.
